Monmouth-based P.E.O. Chapter LE will host its Yard Sale on Friday, May 16, from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm and Saturday, May 17, from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm at 1048 E Euclid Avenue, Monmouth. The yard sale will include glassware, Isabel Bloom, Vera Bradley, Willow Tree, dishware, clothing, and toys, to name a few, while they last. There will also be a bake sale and gift cards from local merchants.

Our Yard Sale is a fun event to help our local communities have access to reasonably priced items for their homes. The proceeds will go to support P.E.O. philanthropies which are focused on providing scholarships, grants, awards, loans and the stewardship of Cottey College for women to pursue education along with helping the preservation of our Chapter.

Chapter LE has been a part of the Monmouth community since it was organized in 1969. For more information regarding the event or Chapter LE, please call Linda Murray at (309) 371- 1944. There are other chapters in Alexis, Aledo, Kirkwood, Monmouth, and Roseville. P.E.O. has been in Warren County for 125 years.

P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization) has been celebrating women, helping women reach for the stars for more than 156 years. Since its inception in 1869, the nonprofit organization has helped more than 125,000 women pursue educational goals by providing approximately $432 million in grants, scholarships, awards, and loans as of April 2024. The Sisterhood also owns and supports Cottey College. Through membership, the P.E.O. Sisterhood has brought together more than half a million women in the United States and Canada who are passionate about helping women advance through education while supporting and motivating them. In addition to the educational philanthropies, the P.E.O. Sisterhood provides a framework of support and community for all members.

What started with a bond of friendship among seven women in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, at Iowa Wesleyan University, it is now one of the oldest women’s organizations in North America with nearly 5,500 chapters.
