Join the Fight Against Period Poverty at the Loving Bottoms Bloody Mary Brunch

Loving Bottoms Diaper Bank is once again making a positive impact on the community through its upcoming Bloody Mary Brunch fundraiser. The fundraiser, scheduled for October 20th, is designed to tackle a pressing yet often overlooked issue: period poverty. It aims to raise critical funds for the organization’s period poverty program, which provides menstrual products to those who struggle to afford them.

Founded in 2015, Loving Bottoms initially focused on providing diapers and hygiene products to families in need, but in 2018, the organization expanded its reach with the launch of its period program. The goal? Combat the startling statistics that show 1 in 4 teens in the U.S. have missed class due to lack of access to menstrual products. Even more alarming is that 16.9 million people across the country experience period poverty, meaning they must often choose between buying food or buying period supplies. This issue disproportionately affects health and education outcomes, especially among women and girls from lower-income backgrounds.

Loving Bottoms distributes about 500 period kits per month, each containing around three days’ worth of supplies. The program isn’t limited to traditional menstrual products like tampons and pads but also includes sustainable options such as menstrual cups and period underwear. Through partnerships with corporate donors like Kotex, grants, and individual contributions, the organization continues to grow its reach.

The Bloody Mary Brunch engages the community and helps them better understand the need for continued support in addressing period poverty. Guests at the event enjoy a delicious brunch while learning how they can get involved—whether by donating products, hosting supply drives, or organizing mobile period kit packing parties with friends and colleagues.

By participating in the Bloody Mary Brunch, attendees help ensure that fewer people in the community have to make the difficult choice between basic necessities like food and menstrual hygiene products.
