Macomb's Dickens on the Square Celebrates 30 Years of Holiday Magic
By: Forgottonia Times™ Report
Macomb’s beloved holiday celebration, Dickens on the Square, returns to the historic downtown for its 30th year with a weekend full of festive traditions and new highlights. Taking place on Friday, December 6th, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and all day on Saturday, December 7th, the event offers holiday cheer for visitors of all ages.
The festivities kick off Friday evening as Santa arrives in style aboard the Santa Zephyr Express, pulling into Macomb’s station at 6:17 p.m. The annual Holiday Light Show will shine on Chandler Park beginning November 27th to welcome the Christmas season and the big, jolly man himself to Macomb.
For families, Dickens on the Square will be packed with activities that capture the magic of the season. Visitors can enjoy traditional horse-drawn trolley rides, watch living window displays come to life, meander through the children’s shopping mall, and explore the Festival of Trees.
Santa’s schedule is busy, too, with visits available throughout the weekend. Saturday brings an extra dash of holiday spirit, with activities starting early and running all day. An exciting and unique allure to the festivities is the chance to meet live reindeer, adding a bit of North Pole magic to the experience.
Carolers in Victorian attire will stroll through the square, adding musical charm to the day while they transport visitors back to the era of Charles Dickens himself. Rounding out the festivities, a holiday light show will illuminate Chandler Park, adding sparkle to an already enchanting scene.
