By: Forgottonia Times™ Report

The Monmouth-Roseville Board of Education has announced the appointment of Eric Matthews as the new High School Principal, with Nate Johnson taking on the role of Assistant High School Principal. Superintendent Ed Fletcher made the announcement, highlighting the qualifications and experience both individuals bring to their new roles.

Eric Matthews is a Monmouth College graduate with an extensive background in educational leadership and athletics. Matthews previously served as the Athletic Director for Galesburg and has a history with the Monmouth-Roseville district, having worked there during the 2005-2006 school year. His experience also includes some time in Farmington, where he served as Athletic Director before returning to Galesburg in a similar capacity. Superintendent Fletcher shared that the Interview Committee felt strongly about Matthews' potential and expressed his enthusiasm about Matthews' return to the district in this new leadership role.

Matthews will assume his duties in mid-July, bringing a fresh perspective and a wealth of experience. As he steps into his new role, his background in athletics and previous experience within the district will be significant assets.

Working alongside Matthews is Nate Johnson, who has been appointed as the Assistant High School Principal. Johnson also previously served as the athletic director, which gives him a familiarity with the current school climate, rules, and regulations, complementing nicely with Matthews' new perspective. Superintendent Fletcher highlighted the benefits of this partnership, emphasizing that both men have similar professional backgrounds. With Johnson's understanding of current rules and Matthews' fresh set of eyes, the two are well-positioned to make a significant difference in the school.

The combination of Johnson's insider knowledge and Matthews' external experience is expected to create a dynamic and effective leadership team for Monmouth-Roseville High School. The district community looks forward to the positive changes and continued growth this new leadership team will bring.

As the new academic year approaches, the Monmouth-Roseville School District is poised for a period of transition and development under the guidance of its new principals. The community eagerly anticipates the fresh initiatives and renewed energy that Eric Matthews and Nate Johnson will introduce to the school.
