By: Forgottonia Times™ Report

Youth for Christ (YFC) is a transformative organization dedicated to nurturing the spiritual, emotional, and social well-being of young people in Western Illinois. The organization provides a variety of programs aimed at meeting the diverse needs of students, empowering them to lead purposeful and fulfilling lives. YFC's mission is to "reach young people everywhere, working together with the local church and other like-minded partners to raise up lifelong followers of Jesus who lead by their godliness in lifestyle."

On Friday, August 9th, YFC hosted its 4th Annual Ice Cream Social, a beloved community event that continues to grow in popularity. Held at the YFC Building in Macomb, the social featured delicious ice cream provided by The Full Scoop of Colchester. Attendees were treated to various flavors and toppings, with kids eagerly piling sprinkles and other assorted goodies onto their sundaes. The event also featured live music by local artist Aaron Lee, whose performance brought a lively and joyful atmosphere to the evening. Children could be seen dancing to the music, their faces lit up with excitement, while others played basketball outside, enjoying the warm summer evening.

The social was a resounding success, drawing in over 200 community members, including adults and several kids from elementary to high school. The event raised approximately $1,500 for their Macomb activity fund. These funds will stay within the local community, supporting essential needs such as meals for kids and supplies for weekly activities, ensuring that YFC can continue its mission.

Bill Walker, Associate Development Director & Bushnell Ministry Director, expressed his thanks to the community: "We at Youth for Christ are incredibly appreciative of everyone who came out to support us." He emphasized that the event's success was a testament to the strong bond between YFC and the community it serves. The funds raised will play a crucial role in sustaining and expanding the organization's programs, which provide invaluable support to local youth.

The 4th Annual Ice Cream Social exemplified YFC's commitment to creating a positive and nurturing environment for young people to find joy, community, and a sense of belonging. YFC plans to continue hosting this event each fall, with the hope of engaging even more community members in the years to come. For those who missed the event, numerous ways exist to get involved and support YFC's mission.
