Homemade Yarn Bunnies and Mother’s Day Gifts at the Warren County Public Library

By: Forgottonia Times™ Report

As spring arrives, the Warren County Public Library is inviting the community to celebrate the season with creative, hands-on events. With a focus on crafts that accentuate the joy of the season, the library is hosting a Spring Yarn Bunny Craft in April, followed by a Mother’s Day Craft Bonanza in May.

The first event, the Yarn Bunny Craft, will take place on April 17 at 4:00pm. Perfect for crafters of all ages, this workshop offers a chance to create soft and adorable yarn bunnies—just in time for spring. The event is free and open to the public, and while no registration is required, supplies are limited. Those interested can reserve a spot by calling (309) 734-3166 or emailing adult@wcplibrary.org.

Then, on May 8, at 4:00 pm, the library will host a Mother’s Day Craft Bonanza, a multi-station event where participants can make handmade gifts to celebrate the moms, grandmothers, and mother figures in their lives.

Organized by Youth Librarian Mindy Newberry and Adult Services Librarian Megan Horack, the library will partner with the University of Illinois Extension office to host two main activities. The first is a workshop on making sugar scrubs and bath bombs, while the library will host a clay trinket dish craft. In addition, patrons will have the chance to design homemade Mother’s Day cards and gift wrap their creations.

Like the Yarn Bunny Craft, the Mother’s Day Craft Bonanza is free to attend, and no registration is required, though spots can be reserved in advance.

For more information on these fun and festive spring events, visit the Warren County Public Library at 62 Public Square in Monmouth or call (309) 734-3166.
