DIY Hat Burning Event Comes to Maddy’s Coffee House
By: Forgottonia Times™ Report
Maddy’s Coffee House is turning up the heat again this spring with a creative DIY hat burning event on Sunday, April 13 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Hosted in collaboration with Wildflowers & Barley out of Springfield, the event invites guests to design and burn custom patterns into hats, with guidance from experienced artists.
Located at 127 W. Broadway in Astoria, Maddy’s Coffee House is a local favorite with a friendly atmosphere, and wide selection of drinks — from espresso and teas to smoothies and Lotus energy drinks. They also offer a delicious selection of pastries and breakfast sandwiches to pair with your drink. Maddy’s has become a hub for community events, and this hands-on workshop is the latest in a growing list of fun Sunday activities.
Back by popular demand, Wildflowers and Barley took up shop in November with a sold-out crowd! Participants will choose from a variety of hat styles, including wide-brim fedoras, cowboy hats, and baseball caps, with prices ranging from $45 to $75. The materials are faux suede and adjustable, and color options abound. Crafters can choose from over 150 available stencils or freehand a design, then follow up the burning by making a custom hat band to tie everything together!
Tickets include all materials, a personalized hat, and a $5 credit toward Maddy’s Coffee House. This DIY Hat Burning is a stylish way to spend a Sunday and walk away with something that’s both functional and fashion-forward — perfect for shading the springtime sun with flair.
As community-focused as it is caffeine-fueled, Maddy’s regularly hosts creative gatherings like macrame workshops. Spots are limited and filling fast! So grab your ticket, pick a hat, and choose which latte you’ll sip on!
