Looking Forward to the Canton Bicentennial

Planning is well underway for Canton's bicentennial celebration scheduled for June 20- 29, 2025. It will include a variety of events and activities to be announced in the coming months. The celebration of Canton's 200th birthday will feature the community's past, present, and future.

A marquee event that has already been set is a tie-in to the performance by a musical group at the Canton High School auditorium on September 13, 1967. That's when the iconic rock-and-roll band, The Doors played here. At the time, their song “Light My Fire” was the number-one song in the United States. A Doors tribute band, The Ultimate Doors, will perform as part of the bicentennial on Friday June 27th, 225 at the Canton High School auditorium.. the same stage where The Doors played in 1967.

The Ultimate Doors was formed in 2020 with the intention of preserving The Doors music and performances as well as bringing an authentic experience to the old and new generations of The Doors fans. They're based near Dayton, Ohio and play concerts throughout the United States. Every piece of equipment they use on stage is the same as what The Doors used in the 1960s from the instruments and amplifiers to the clothing and microphones.
