Monmouth Police and Strom Center Bring Warmth to the Community
By: Forgottonia Times™ Report
On Friday, December 13, the Monmouth Police Department partnered with the Strom Center for their annual Power for Seniors event, bringing seasonal cheer and essential support to seniors in Warren and Henderson counties.
The event provided lunch and distributed Ameren energy assistance checks to randomly selected seniors, helping ease the burden of winter utility bills. These checks, typically 20-30 but ranging in number based on community donations, were a testament to the generosity of Monmouth residents and local businesses.
Save-a-Lot and other donors contributed to the drive-through and delivery services that brought holiday joy to participating seniors. This event wouldn't be possible without the incredible support and donations from the community, according to Josh Kramer of the Monmouth Police Department.
The Strom Center's played a big part in the event's success. Led by Director Carol McCrery, Strom Center staff compiled a list of needy seniors and organized the day's activities. The Strom Center offers year-round service to seniors and disabled residents, including vital programs such as Medicare counseling, equipment loans, and Alzheimer's support.
As the Monmouth Police Department celebrates the success of this year's Power for Seniors, they are already looking towards next year, ensuring no senior is left in the cold.
