The 75th annual Avon Fat Steer Show will be held Thursday, August 15th through Saturday, August 17th. This is a wonderful community summertime tradition in Avon with a weekend full of family fun, activities and great food.

The carnival will be provided by Boden Amusements on all three nights with Carnival Arm Band Nights on Thursday and Friday. Be sure to visit the Exhibit/Merchants Building which will have various exhibits and information booths, as well as the Home and Garden entries and winners. Home and Garden entries are due Wednesday from 4-7p.m. Be sure to also stop and purchase raffle prize tickets while there. You may purchase tickets all three nights until the steer auction starts on Saturday night.

In addition to the regular carnival food and concessions, the A-Town FFA will be selling hamburgers, hot dogs, nachos and snacks, and the Lion’s Club will be selling butterfly pork chop and rib eye sandwiches. The Avon Methodist Church will be serving breakfast Friday and Saturday 6-9 a.m. The A-Town softball teams will be selling lemonade shake-ups and popcorn.

Thursday will feature the kid’s games and the Cake judging and auction. Friday night will feature the chicken and pig scrambles as well as the Tractor Pulls. Saturday is jam-packed with activities beginning with the Stampede run and walk events for children and adults. The Antique Tractor & Engine Show will be going on all day, with an Antique Tractor Parade to the Main Street Café. During the afternoon there will be judging, awards and prizes for Heifers, Bucket Calves, Steers and the Showmanship Classes. Saturday night will be topped off with the Steer Auction and presentation of awards, the Raffle Prize drawing and finally the fireworks display.
