The 27th Annual Gardener’s Day, hosted by the University of Illinois Extension and McDonough County Master Gardeners, will take place on March 22, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Spoon River College Outreach Center in Macomb. The University Extension serves Warren, McDonough, Knox, and Henderson counties, offering gardening enthusiasts a chance to learn, network, and explore new techniques.
Attendees will choose from four educational sessions covering topics such as fruit tree care, shade gardening, landscape layering, and sustainable gardening through the Conservation@Home program. Experts will lead discussions, and vendor displays will offer plants and gardening supplies. Registration is required beforehand at go.illinois.edu/GardenersDay2025 or by contacting Kate Budde at (309)-342-5108 or emailing kbudde@illinois.edu. Depending on the ticket level purchased, the event includes a provided lunch, refreshments, your pick of lessons to attend, and a chance to win a door prize.
Horticulture Program Coordinator Kate Budde expressed her enthusiasm, calling it one of her favorite events of the year. “It’s a great day to think spring, enjoy the gardening community, and learn,” she said.
For Warren County residents, the event is an ideal day trip to Macomb, providing a valuable opportunity to gain practical gardening insights and connect with fellow enthusiasts.
