Find your Footing: An Evening of Dance on Lake Storey

By: Forgottonia Times™ Report

As the sun begins its descent over the beautiful Lake Storey on Saturday, March 29, 2025, the doors of the Lake Storey Pavilion will swing open, welcoming dancers of all levels to an afternoon and evening of rhythm, music, and timeless movement. Rhythm & Revelry, hosted by Young Dance Inc., offers an invitation to rediscover the joy of dancing, whether you’re an experienced dancer or stepping onto the floor for the first time.

The event begins in the afternoon with a series of 45-minute dance lessons, each designed to ease participants into the art of ballroom and Latin dancing. Waltz lessons commence at 2:00 PM, followed by Rumba at 3:00 PM and Nightclub-style dancing at 4:00 PM. Lessons are priced at $5 per session or $20 for a full-day pass, which includes access to the evening social dance.

For those who have always wanted to learn to dance but felt unsure where to start, these lessons provide the perfect opportunity. Young Dance Inc. specializes in bringing ballroom, Latin, and swing dancing to Central Illinois, offering instruction that welcomes both beginners and those looking to refine their skills. They regularly host dance lessons and events, including specialized instruction for wedding preparation for newlyweds and their families.

As night falls, the real revelry begins. Doors reopen at 6:00 PM, with a Beginner East Coast Swing lesson at 6:30 PM, ensuring even those new to the dance floor feel comfortable joining in. The night then transforms into a social dance from 7:00 to 10:00 PM, featuring live music from Rosie and the Rivets, a band celebrated for its energetic performances and vintage rock and soul sound. Admission for the evening is $10 per person, including the lesson, or, again, the $20 day pass gets you access to the afternoon’s lessons as well as the evening’s dancing.

Proceeds from Rhythm & Revelry benefit the Prairie Players Civic Theatre, making the evening not just a celebration of dance but also a contribution to the local arts community.

So dust off your dancing shoes, bring a partner, or come solo, and embrace the magic of movement. Whether you sway, twirl, or take it step by step, this is a night to let loose, embrace tradition, and find rhythm in revelry.
