Lisa Nelson Raabe’s 'Prayers of Steel' Brings Carl Sandburg’s Poetry to Life

The first art show of the 2024-25 academic year at Carl Sandburg College will feature Peoria artist Lisa Nelson Raabe's "Prayers of Steel" exhibit, inspired by Carl Sandburg's poem. The show runs through Oct. 18 in the Lonnie Eugene Stewart Art Gallery on the Galesburg campus. An opening reception will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Sept. 6. Both the exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.

Raabe, an accomplished artist with degrees from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Illinois State University, and Bradley University, has exhibited her work in various cities, including San Antonio, Chicago, and Peoria. She has received several awards, including Best of Show at the 2022 CAC Member Artists Biennial in Peoria.
