Run, Walk, and Wag: Monmouth Gears Up for Freedom Ride Animal Rescue's 1st Annual 5K

On Saturday, September 21st, 2024, Monmouth will come alive with the joyful sounds of runners, walkers, and wagging tails as the Freedom Ride Animal Rescue hosts its 1st annual 5K Fun Run and 1 Mile Walk & Wag. This event is more than a race; it's an opportunity for the community to come together, enjoy the great outdoors, and support a worthy cause.
Starting at 10:00 AM, participants in the 5K Fun Run will embark on a scenic route through Monmouth, beginning and ending at the First Christian Church located at 514 N. Sunny Lane. For those looking for a more leisurely pace, the 1 Mile Walk & Wag kicks off at 10:30 AM, offering an inclusive option for all ages and fitness levels. Plus, well-behaved pets on leashes are encouraged to join in, making it a perfect family event!
All proceeds from this event go directly towards Freedom Ride Animal Rescue's vital work in animal care and transportation. By participating, you'll be helping animals in need while enjoying a fun and active morning in the company of fellow animal lovers. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place medals will be awarded in the 5K for Men, Women, and 17 & Under divisions. Plus, a special prize awaits the first dog to cross the finish line! Participants can pick up their race packets starting at 9:00 AM on race day, giving you plenty of time to gear up and get excited before the start. This event is a fantastic way to meet new people, connect with your community, and make a difference together.
Can't Make It in Person? Go Virtual!
For those who can't attend the event in Monmouth, Freedom Ride Animal Rescue is offering a virtual participation option. Whether you're out of state, have a busy schedule, or simply prefer to run on your own time, you can still be part of this exciting event. Sign up for the virtual 5K by Friday, September 13th, and complete your run by September 20th. You'll even have the option to receive a t-shirt shipped directly to you, or you can choose to donate the cost of your t-shirt back to the Rescue.
After completing your virtual run, submit your time to freedomrideanimalrescue@gmail.com, and your results will be proudly displayed on the rescue's Facebook page and website. While there are no medals for virtual participants, you will receive a certificate of completion to commemorate your contribution.
